Who We Are
Mooi Bakes runs this website and decides what happens to the personal information you share through it. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) that makes us the responsible party.

What We Collect
We only collect what you choose to send us through the forms on this site:
- The contact form: your name, your email address, your phone number, the date you ask for, what you need and anything you write in your message.
To keep spam out, each form entry also stores a scrambled code made from your internet address (never the address itself) and the name of your browser. We do not ask for identity numbers, bank details or any special personal information, so please do not send them in a message.
When you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we receive the details that come with it, such as your number or email address.
Why We Use It
We use your information only for the reason you gave it to us:
- To answer your message.
- To keep the records the law asks a business to keep.
We never sell your information, and we never add you to a mailing list you did not sign up for. We will not send you marketing messages.
POPIA lets us do this because you asked us to (you sent a message, a request or a sign-up), because we need it to give you what you asked for, or because the law requires it.
Who Else Sees It
We share your information only with the services that help us run this site and answer you:
- Talk Portal (Digital Cartel, South Africa) hosts this website and keeps form entries safe for us until we deal with them. It acts only on our instructions.
- Our email provider delivers form entries to our inbox.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries any message you send us on WhatsApp, under its own privacy policy.
- Google Maps shows the map on this site. Google receives your internet address when the map loads.
- Anyone the law requires us to share it with, such as SARS or a court.
Some of these services, such as WhatsApp and Google, store information outside South Africa. POPIA allows this where the country or the company protects it to a standard at least as good as ours.
How Long We Keep It
- Form entries are deleted from the website after a year. Entries that look like spam are deleted after 30 days.
- Anything that becomes part of a sale or order is kept as long as tax and business law require, usually five years.
- Emails and messages are kept only as long as we need them to help you.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Google may set its own cookies when the map loads.
How We Protect It
The site runs over an encrypted connection (https). Form entries sit behind a login that only we can use, and they are deleted on the schedule above. If your information is ever exposed without permission, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your Rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold information about you, and for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct it, or to delete it when we no longer need it;
- object to us using it, and withdraw any consent you gave;
- ask us to stop sending you marketing at any time;
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To use any of these rights, contact us with the details at the top of this page. We will answer within a reasonable time and at no cost for a simple request.

When what we collect or who helps us changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
